DuPage Human Race Won by 54-year-young Brandt

Just culling through a few results today, I smiled when I saw that two good friends were the winners at a low-key 5K in Wheaton called the DuPage Human Race. Overall winner in a time that seems slow for him was Barry Brandt, 54, of Villa Park, who cruised to an easy victory in 17:50. It's not every day that you see a race won by a 54-year-old. Way to go, Barry (Mr. Fast Track!). Taking the women's title was Stephanie Wagner, 38, of Lombard, in 20:17. Knowing both of them as well as I do from training and racing with the Elmhurst Running Club the past few years, those times are slow. Either the course was long or they were not going all-out. Barry or Stephanie, if you see this, give us the scoop. One other runner I know said in a Facebook posting that his time was slow. In other quick news today, Mike Popejoy of Wheaton was not in town for the aforementioned race because he was in Indiana winning the Carmel Half Marathon in a sparkling 1:06:29.

Hey Bob,

Yes, the race was long (3.23 Miles) and over grass and crushed limestone. Fun race though and well organized for a first year. They had no mile markers, which needs to changed, but other than that it was good.
