Bib Sharing Strikes Again at Chicago Half

How many times do I have to write how I detest bib sharing. The latest fiascos have occurred in the Chicago Half Marathon results. Grace Wasielewski (W55-59), Nancy Rollins (W60-64) and Ted Kohn (M70-74) ran great races and should have been listed first in their age groups in the official results. They weren't because bib sharers, all young, ran in the place of people registered in those age groups and got those people listed as winners. Through research, examination of race photos and other means, another running friend and I have uncovered this stuff and gotten the results fixed (W55-59 is still pending). It's ridiculous. Sorry for the rant.

Good to know that you and a few other people are keeping on top of this. Hopefully, there will be a solution to the bib sharing mess soon. It could happen to anyone. The next time I place somewhere between 2 thru 6 in my age group, I will be examining the pictures of those ahead of me looking for at least a touch of gray hair!

Good work Bob! Shame it's necessary.

Do people do this to get better times to qualify for corrals or is it a more inadvertent result of people just giving their bibs away to someone else who may just be younger/faster? I will say that if more races allowed bib transfers this probably wouldn't happen as much. I do agree though - the next time I'm close to the front of my AG I'll be looking closely at those who place ahead of me!
